Ewen Levick
Researcher, Narrator & Founder
Ewen lives in Melbourne with his wife, son and one very excitable dog. He holds a BA in International and Global Studies from the University of Sydney, Honours from the University of New South Wales, an MSc in International Relations from the University of Edinburgh. He previously served in the Australian Army.
After writing ‘Overland,’ a story about his journey from Australia to Switzerland without flying, Ewen became fascinated by the way countries were influenced by their history. What better way to tell these stories than a podcast?
Ewen is also the publisher of the Australian Defence Magazine and founder of The Greyhaven Company.
Steve Visscher
Executive Producer and Audio Guru
Steve Visscher is a Melbourne-based journalist, news presenter, voiceover artist and audio producer who has been making people sound good for more than 15 years.
Through Southern Skies Media, Steve produces broadcast-quality podcasts and audio content for clients across business, defence, aviation and specialist media. His work covers the full production chain – recording, editing, sound design, mixing and mastering.
On A History of the Future, Steve takes the raw ingredients – Ewen’s research, narration and storytelling – and turns them into a polished, engaging podcast that sounds as sharp as the ideas behind it.
Grant McHerron

With a background in IT and aviation, Grant’s lived and worked around the world managing IT programs and teams in regulated and safety critical environments. In addition to managing projects for clients, Grant works as a journalist specialising in defence and aerospace.
Having returned to Australia, Grant has been living in Melbourne for almost half his life, forming Southern Skies Media with Steve to produce great audio and video content for the company’s clients. Grant hosts and facilitates podcasts, makes videos, and keeps the company’s production efforts on track.
When not working in his office, Grant can often be found providing commentary at airshows around Australia and likes to fly hot air balloons when he can.
